Hi and welcome to my Photography blog. My name is Steve Potter, I am an amateur photographer, however my passion doesn’t just lie with taking pictures myself, I am also a huge admirer of other photographers work and I love looking at the pictures of other photographers.
So in this blog I hope to bring you a mixture of photography - wonderful landscapes, exciting cityscapes, along with great pictures of people and places.
excellent picture with great use of filters to create a dramatic sky. Deep clouds lead to a beautiful red sunset which reflects onto the houses creating a vivid and well shot landscape. This picture was awarded photo of the day at policybee.co.uk
very effective night time image, perhaps too heavy on the orange, but it still makes for a great beach scene. The rocks are especially impressive, with stong blacks contrastng with the overall orange tone of the image
A dazzling array of Autumn colours makes this a really good picture. Saturation of the reds and browns, creates a stunning forest image containing almost every colour in the Autumn spectrum.
Taken just after midnight during a warm balmy summers evening, the ‘blue hour’ after the sun has set creates wonderful colours. A 30 second shutter speed is necessary to capture this scene and results in that fantastic mirror-like water . The additional warm lights and the purple weir lights complete the scene - made it worthwhile staying up after midnight!
As the sun sets, a lovely warm nightime image is captured. The sky is highlighted with red streaks and a silloulete is created from the trees. A nice relaxing picture invoking memories of summer by the shore
A crisp winters evening as the sun is dropping, provides the backdrop for this great forest scene. The golden sun illuminates the trees, throwing a gentle golden shadow onto the snow. Nice foreground of a branch with snow, helps the picture
With the sun setting in the background, this isolated boat makes for a strong focal point. Scudding skies with an orange filter combine wonderfully to create a very atmospheric image of a sunet seascape
Beautiful mountain lake scene in Solvakian National park. Captured wonderfully by using a filter for the sky to create a deep red, very dramtic skyline. Great contrast of colours which have been saturated using photo editing
My favourite type of picture. I took this on a balmy summer evening as the sun set over a small harbour in Ireland. A slow shutter speed produced lovely mirror like water with the warm colours of the setting sun reflecting the suns setting. That’s the beauty of summer evenings
The lake at Powerscourt, Ireland. Looking up at the fabulous Powerscourt home. Lovely scene of the lake and impressive reflections in the water make this a nice picture for me personally
